Chief's #FPL Team - Double Gameweek 28

 Latest Rank:
55k (15k fall)

Transfers*:
Defoe & di Maria OUT / Austin & Eriksen IN (-4 HIT)

Bank Balance:

£2.1M

*I sold Baird for Yoshida at 11.29am on Saturday, hence I lost my FT. If he is benched v CRY, I will probably sell him for Rose at the last minute.

Notes:

One step forwards. Two steps backwards. One step forwards. Two steps backwards. My FPL form has been inconsistent of late - pretty $%£$%. I can't deny it, ever since that Giroud red card on Boxing Day, I have been stuck in a horrific FPL rut (where as he has been scoring for fun ever since!) - benching midfielders and strikers (who went on to score), buying Given (WTF?!), buying Yoshida as a short-term purchase, when I could have bought Bellerin, etc. As with previous seasons, my primary target is to finish the season in the top 1% - 34,650. It will be an arduous slog to hit that target, but c'est la vie. Feeling dejected with a paltry 29 (I have only scored sub-30 only twice before in my FPL career), I was about to activate my wildcard, but decided to keep it for DGW34 as my final "Hadouken" of the season. I decided to sell AdM after his woeful performance v Sunderland - he's lost his bearings and Eriksen seemed a straight swap with his DGW. My other transfer was also fairly easy. Austin has a DGW, Defoe hasn't and the latter has been poor of late. In fairness, I could have also sold Cazorla, Walcott and Yoshida. But I will probably phase them out gradually now. Walcott will probably be sold for a cheap midfielder so that I can free up funds for a classy non-Poundshop defender and Cazorla will probably be kicked out for Ozil - but TBC on that front. Here's to hoping for some points.  All the best!

Chief's #FPL Team - Gameweek 27

  Latest Rank:

40k (14k rise)

Transfers:

Foster* IN / Courtois OUT (2FTs intact)

Bank Balance:

£1.7M

*5 of Foster's next 6 PL fixtures seem reasonable & he's a bargain at sub-£5M.

Notes:

So it looks like the purchase of Given last week was a waste of a transfer. I should have bought Krul after all, even if he's only good for GW27 and not so thereafter.  In addition, I probably should have captained Hazard over Kane and I got lucky when he scored straight after his missed penalty - damage limitation.  Despite these mishaps, I still managed to rise 14k.  Looking at this GW, I decided to make a long term GK purchase in the form of Foster. I still have another FT and could yet use it as a way of selling Baird for a Manchester United defender.  Then again, I plan on doing the following with my 2 FTs for GW28:

Walcott, Baird, Defoe OUT (-4)
Eriksen, Rose, Austin IN (TBC)

Chief's #FPL Team - Gameweek 26

  Latest Rank:
54k (1k rise)

  Transfers*:
Given IN / Hamer OUT (2FTs intact)

Bank Balance:
£0.4M

*Courtois has a probable chance of not starting. I didn't want to sell him, so sought a replacement for Hamer. I could have got Krul (home v City) and was 0.1 short of getting Green. In the end I opted for Given due to his good performance in the FA Cup, him praising Sherwood in the press, Sherwood's first official game and they were both teammates. Worst case scenario, neither Courtois or Given start and I lose out, so be it, I guess - no other GK transfers made sense.

Notes:

I need to stop benching strikers. They score every time I bench them! On this occasion Cazorla is my sub1. 2 GWs from 2 points indicates that he's being overshadowed by Theo, Ozil, Sanchez, etc. With Defoe being a doubt, Santi could still sub on for me, but I'm not expecting Defoe to start or for Santi to do much. As for my captain it came down to Aguero, Kane and Hazard. Aguero has Barcelona during the week, so may have to take it easy or play less minutes. Hazard played on Tuesday.  As for Kane, he played on Thursday for a brief 24 minutes. With questions over Allardyce's long term future, Kane's sensational form and having no other Sunday players, it sort of made sense to pick Kane.

Chief's #FPL Team - Gameweek 25

  Latest Rank:
55k (17k fall)

  Transfers*:
NONE

Bank Balance:
£0.4M

*Due to #GW25 starting early in the week, we will know the line-ups for Tuesday in advance. I probably won't make any late transfers, but I reserve the right to shuffle my team around if I know some won't start, i.e. Cazorla or Walcott being benched.

Notes:

I benched Defoe last week and lost out on 7 precious points which saw my slide down the rankings. I should remember not to bench a striker, right? Wrong. I will probably do it again. I know Kane has form on his side, but Liverpool have transformed into the best in-form defence with 4 clean sheets out of 4. I think Kane is due a blank GW and it could happen at Anfield.  However, as stated above, I could still put him into my first team if one of my Arsenal players don't start.  I think Hazard is a safe captain pick due to Chelsea's form and his performances at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League this season.  Looking ahead, I plan on using 1 transfer in GW26 and hopefully 1 again in GW27.  I will then use the free transfer (FT) for DGW28.  Let's see how things pan out.  Good luck!

Chief's #FPL Team - Gameweek 24

  Latest Rank: 38,792 (5k rise)

  Transfers:
Sanchez/Chadli OUT
Cazorla/Silva IN

Bank Balance: £0.4M

Notes:

I sold Sanchez as I feel that he may not start the next 2 GWs and also I don't stand to lose out on player value on him as I bought him late.  Cazorla makes sense as a viable replacement, but Arsenal's attack is becoming flooded, so he will complement Theo at best.  Incidentally, they have a good run of upcoming games, so 2 Arsenal attackers should be OK seeing as they score a lot.  As for Silva, he also has a good run of upcoming games.  Will he wane once Aguero gets his shooting boots on? Only time will tell. But at the very least he will serve as an assist master.  Overall I am pleased with my midfield. You would be hard pushed to find a better Power 7/8 on paper than the team above for £103M or less.

Chief's #FPL Team - Gameweek 23

  Latest Rank: 43,479 (8k fall)

  Transfers:
Albrighton/Costa OUT (-4)*
Walcott/Defoe IN

Bank Balance: £0.4M

*I considered buying Cazorla, Ward-Prowse, Walters, Puncheon and Pelle.

Why did I buy Defoe and Walcott?

Both have FPL pedigree via historical stats.
Defoe and Walcott aren't simply risky purchases.
Both are "Super Differentials" (less than 1% ownership).
Arsenal and Sunderland have a good run of games & need wins/goals.
I'm not a fan of template teams & I hope this is the beginning of 2 bandwagons.
I have slumped dramatically down the rankings & I need to try something different.
They haven't shown prolonged form of late due to different reasons, but they are special.

Extra Notes:

I initially wanted to sell Chadli for Walters as I already have Kane and Stoke have a good run of games till April.  In addition, as a result of Chelsea and Tottenham reaching the League Cup final, GW27 is a truncated GW with no Chelsea, Tottenham, QPR or Leicester.  However, GW28 is now a DGW for Tottenham and QPR.  Chelsea and Leicester's DGW should be announced soon.  I am hoping to sell Hamer and Chadli before GW27.

Chief's #FPL Team - Gameweek 21

Latest Rank: 14,527 (3k fall)

  Transfers:
None*

Bank Balance: £1.0M

*Could have bought Kane, Heaton or even Giroud! But erred towards patience.

Zero cover from MUFC, LFC, Arsenal, Soton or W'ham (to be addressed).

Why have I captained Hazard?

He has scored 28% of CFC's  home goals in the PL thus far.
Non-stop fantasy returns at home since GW7 (5th October).
Hazard is the top FPL points scorer & bags baps at home.
Scored a hat-trick against NUFC in the PL last season.

Chief's #FPL Team - Gameweek 20

Latest Rank: 11,393 (4k rise)

  Transfers:
  *Clyne (OUT)
  Trippier (IN)
New Bank Balance: £1.0M

*Trippier is a cheaper version of Clyne & has better upcoming games.

Why have I bought Trippier?

The stats don't lie...

2nd highest outfield FPL points scorer for Burnley this season.
Good run of games: NEW (A), QPR (H), CRY (H), SUN (A),  WBA (H).
Prowess: Apparently made 19 assists in the Championship last season.
I think he is under-the-radar and in many respects a "Moneyball" buy!
Trippier's recent final third passes, key passes & shots are compelling:

 Why captain Austin (again)?

Swansea have one of the worst away records in the PL this season.
They have conceded on average 1.78 goals per away game.
Austin hasn't blanked 2 weeks in a row at home since 19th Oct.
QPR want to avoid a relegation dog fight & seem to only win at home.
Austin has the highest number of shots on target at home in 14/15.

Chief's #FPL Team - Gameweek 19

Latest Rank: 15,016 (9k fall)

  Transfers:
  Giroud* (OUT)
  Benteke (IN)
New Bank Balance: £0.4M

*Giroud was a spectacular fail & Benteke is a viable replacement.

Why have I bought Benteke
?

The stats don't lie...

Benteke has viable fantasy returns in his last 2 home games.
Has registered 4 shots on target at home in his last 2 home games.
Benteke's home ALI (potency) is higher than Austin's since GW15.
Has a pedigree of scoring in the PL. I think he is due to score more.
Villa have a good run of upcoming games: SUN (H), CRY (H), LEI (A)

 Why did I captain Austin?

Joint top goalscorer at home in the PL this season (9).
Joint best "fantasy returns at home of any player in the PL (7).
Most shots on target at home of any player in the PL (20).
Best player for shots on target at home since GW 16 (6).
QPR (17) have scored more goals at home than Man City (15).
Palace are manager-less and concede 1.78 goals when away in 14/15.

In addition...

If QPR score, it's almost safe to say that Austin has scored:

www.asliga.com

Austin takes more shots on target at home than any of his teammates:

www.asliga.com

In summary, Austin has been formidable when playing at home in the PL:

Chief's #FPL Team - Gameweek 18

Latest Rank: 6,872 (10k rise)

  Transfers:
  Duff/Rooney OUT (-4*)
  Zabaleta/Giroud IN
New Bank Balance: £0.0M

*The former is injured, whereas the latter is playing as a CM (negative OOP)

Why have I purchased
Giroud and captained him?

The stats don't lie...

Giroud has scored the most FWD FPL points since GW16 (19).
Has the 3rd highest number of FWD final third passes since GW 16 (23)
Giroud has scored a goal once  every 51 minutes since GW 16.
QPR have conceded 20 goals in 8 away PL games this season.
Giroud has form on his side and likes scoring at the Emirates.

 Why did I buy Zabaleta?

Joint 4th highest potency (ALI rating) of any defender this season.
10th best number of key passes of any defender this season.
10th best number of final third passes of any defender this season.
7/12 Fantasy returns since Gameweek 1, despite missing some games.

 Source: Asliga

Coming back to Giroud, he is Arsenal's most in-form FPL forward:

www.asliga.com

Finally, Arsenal are averaging 2+ goals at home this season and need a win!
