Recommended Player for Gameweek 7

Recommended Player for Gameweek 7 - Phil Jones (Manchester United)

If you haven't already purchased him, my recommended player for gameweek 7 is Manchester United's Phil Jones.  The former Blackburn player is a steal at 5.8.  With United playing Norwich at home he will almost certainly be involved in preventing the unfancied Canaries from scoring.  This could bag him at least 6 GW points (2 for at least 60 minutes of football and 4 for a clean sheet).  Not only that, he is almost certain to play regularly due to United's injury hit defence crisis.  So far he has provided 2 assists in 6 gameweeks, which is a decent turnover for a defender at this stage of the season.  Get him while he is cheap, as his price will almost certainly smash the 6.5 mark, subject to inevitable starts and glittering performances.  The 19 year old will be a mainstay in England's defence for the next decade and should be a must have in your GW team!

Gameweek 6 Summary

Ok folks, so it seems like I have had a bad GW (see my definition of a bad GW in FAQs).  This was in part due to all of my defenders conceding goals, my midfielders and forwards not scoring or assisting, except for Aguero (fortunately he was my captain in a points barren team).  To top things off, Rooney's hamstring injury a day before match day depleted my chances of a good points haul; especially considering that I am relying on a three pronged attack.  My trust in Taraabt to score has fallen so much that I have decided to transfer him in place for Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey.  Whilst Ramsey may not play in an attack-orientated midfield position as Taraabt, at least he is playing for a team that has rediscovered its attacking prowess.  In addition, I was mulling over a potential transfer of Cole for Boswinga to free up funds, but I will postpone this for the time being.  I have uploaded my GW 7 team on the blog.  I am hoping for better success in GW7.  However, I may need to maintain patience as 8 out of 11 of my first team will be playing away...  Stay tuned.

Recommended Player for Gameweek 6

Recommended Player for Gameweek 6 - Yohan Cabaye (Newcastle United)

After watching Yohan Cabaye play against Aston Villa last week I am fully convinced that he will be a natural replacement for Kevin Nolan in Newcastle's centre midfield.  The former Lille player has a knack for scoring from set pieces and open play as is evident from the video above.  He was very unlucky to not score against Aston Villa, due in part to the superlatives of former Geordie hero Shay Given.  Against Blackburn at St James' with a license to thrill, I am confident that he may score or assist with a goal or two.  I regard him to be the leader of Newcastle United's French Revolution - accompanied by Ba, Marveaux, Obertan, Abedin, Ben Arfa et Tiote.  Don't be surprised if he has a double digit goal tally by the end of this season.
