Starting 11 daily fantasy football - Gameweek 13

Starting 11 has another free to enter £50.00* mini-league prize on offer this weekend. I’m here to bring you tips and hints on how to make the most of your Daily Fantasy Premier League team.

We all love fantasy football and with a lot of us playing in FPL cash games with family, friends and work colleagues, Starting 11 are offering us the chance to win some fresh cash, every weekend!

What makes Starting 11 special is that there are no player price caps or budget restrictions, which allows you to pack a weekly team with as many premium assets as you want, rather than being forced to own less accomplished players from the bottom end of the table.

If you’d like to get involved this week by challenging myself and many other FPL managers from the community, simply create your line-ups today by downloading the free Starting 11 app, which is available on both iOS and Android.

*Terms and conditions apply

This Saturday we have SIXTEEN teams in action which include some fixtures that are difficult to call. You can only choose 11 players. Who will make your Starting 11?

Below, I (@FPLHints) will show you all my line-up in advance and offer a few thoughts on which premium and differential players I’m considering.

Once you’ve installed the app and are logged in, please head over to the ‘Mini-League’ tab and there you will see FPLTips’ contest for Saturday 23rd November.

As mentioned, both the iOS and Android apps are free to download, and the £50.00 free roll contest is free to join and play so there's nothing to lose.

Raul Jimenez vs. Bournemouth (A)
Raul Jimenez is showing both form and consistency ahead of the trip to Bournemouth, having scored three times now during his last four Premier League outings.  He is beginning to rediscover his goal scoring touch from last season.

A front three of Vardy, Jimenez and Abraham is becoming the go-to front three this season across all fantasy football platforms – Jimenez deserves his place among that trio.

Their opponents Bournemouth managed to keep three clean sheets on the run recently, a side normally known for both scoring and conceding goals.  However, normal service was resumed during Gameweek 12 as Newcastle put two past the Cherries.

What’s also worth noting is that Jimenez only played 20 minutes during his international fixture midweek, so he will be fresher than expected going into Gameweek 13.

James Maddison vs. Brighton (A)
While Vardy picks up the headlines, Maddison continues to be the driving force behind Leicester’s attacking football.

Maddison so far this season has chipped in with four goals and three assists, however a closer look suggests he could have delivered even more returns and feels like a must own at this stage of the season.

He has averaged two shots per game this season and in addition to his four goals, has missed four big chances – he’s averaging over two key passes per game.

There is a discussion as to whether we should own Maddison or Tielemans (on Starting 11 this week I have both!), however with Maddison’s set pieces added to his armoury – he edges it for me.

This week’s opponents Brighton have conceded nine times during their last six games. They play an attacking form of football to pose a real threat to Leicester’s winning run – but I still expect Leicester to score easily.

Lucas Digne vs. Norwich (H)
We all have to own an Everton player this week in Starting 11, purely for their fixture this week vs Norwich City.

Lucas Digne was a firm favourite among the FPL Community earlier in the season – attacking, set pieces, as well as the addition of possible clean sheets.

Three assists so far is less than we hoped for, as are only three clean sheets after a favourable opening fixture run. However considering Norwich have only scored twice during their last seven games, those clean sheet points look almost safe.

At the other end of the pitch, Norwich have conceded SIXTEEN times during those seven games. I'm sure we will see Digne in his opponents half more than we do defending his own goal.

Who Got The Assist? Pod 88 - Embrace The Fear

Gameweek 12, 2019/20!

This week, after focusing heavily on players and teams for the last few pods, we instead turn the spotlight on managers and how we deal with bandwagons in FPL. The challenge of the bandwagon decision comes around often, so this pod looks at the reasoning dilemmas and psychology behind them to help managers decide how to deal with challenge they represent.

As usual, we also include our usual features in the Market Forces, 30+, Nick/Tom picks, #dadwatch a league update and listener questions!

This Sunday there are SIX teams in action, which are difficult to call.  Who will make your Starting 11?

Raul Jimenez vs. Aston Villa (H)
Wolves were a side I expected to be challenging for a top 6 position this season, however juggling the Premier League as well as the Europa League has led to a slow start to their 2019/20 season.

They appear to be turning a corner though, undefeated during their last six Premier League games – albeit only one victory during that period, against Champions Manchester City.

It’s no shock that Wolves’ upturn in form has coincided with that of Jimenez, who followed up his two assists vs Manchester City with two goals during the next three games.

This week Wolves play Aston Villa, who have failed to keep a clean sheet during their last six games.

Andy Robertson vs. Manchester City (H)
I wouldn’t want to select a defender when they are playing Manchester City, however I don’t view Robertson as a defender.  He’s more of a quasi-winger with clean sheets as bonuses.

His goal vs Aston Villa last week made it four attacking returns in total this season. To be honest his performances have deserved more – he is still a player I would choose every week and is definitely fixture proof.

He entered the box like a number 10 last weekend to score his first goal of the season, a goal which was assisted by Trent Alexander-Arnold. It highlights once again how attacking Klopp expects his full-backs to be.

Sergio Aguero vs. Liverpool (A)
The Argentina international has  proved he’s a big game player. Well games don’t get much bigger than this one…

Pep Guardiola will have watched Klopp resting the likes of Mane, Firmino and Robertson on Tuesday, then followed suit by ensuring Aguero was fresh for Sunday’s clash.

After scoring 8 goals from the opening 6 Premier League games of the season, rotation has halted his momentum due to the Champions League – however after a rest on Wednesday night we can be confident that he will start against Liverpool.

I’m expecting an exciting game on Sunday, I think Liverpool will win – but I’m expecting goals!

MadPick - Zero Hero (Gameweek 12)

@FPLMad continues his series of 'Zero Hero' picks which focus on super low-owned players. They could be uber-differentials (at 0.9% or less), thus require more scrutiny and evaluation over a three Gameweek window. Over the years, he has provided an assortment of successful differentials on a weekly basis through his own set of parameters and is relishing this new challenge. Here's his Zero Hero pick for Gameweek 10:

Before getting into this week’s pick, since I didn’t have an article last week for personal reasons, let’s take a look at how GW8’s and GW9’s Zero Heroes did over the three Gameweek window that they were given. It was a mixed bag with Maupay and Tierney. First, Maupay scored 2 goals in his 3 matches which would qualify the pick as a success. Second is Tierney, who was a total failure with 2 blanks in 2 appearances. All of that adds up to 3 out of 5 successful picks which is pretty respectable I think.

Focusing on the next 3 gameweeks, there’s been a differential on my mind for a couple of weeks actually; he was so close to being picked the last two gameweeks but I think this week is the perfect timing given his next three fixtures. This week’s Zero Hero has been going about his business without a lot of traction from FPL managers; he’s still only owned by 0.6%. However, he already has a goal and 4 assists to his name. He’s Dwight McNeil from Burnley. The young English winger was a breakout star last season for Burnley and has well established himself as a nailed-on starter this season; he’s yet to miss the starting XI and has been arguably one of the best players for Sean Dyche’s side.

One thing not going in his favor, in the eyes of FPL managers, is his price. At 6.0 million, people have other more popular options like McGinn and Cantwell. However, when you look at overall points this season, he sits 4th for midfielders priced at 6.0 million or under. Other than the good form, he has fixtures on his side as well. In the next 3, Burnley plays West Ham and Crystal Palace at home and Watford away. The fact that a 6.0 midfielder from Burnley is putting a lot of people off, which makes him an even greater differential right now; he’s your Zero Hero for Gameweek 12.

I would love to hear your thoughts and reactions about this week’s pick!

Pod 87 - All Killer, Priced As Filler (feat. Luke Jerdy)

Gameweek 11, 2019/20!

This week, the cheap filler is looking killer as we're joined by Luke Jerdy (follow him here on twitter!), aka Jesse from Hollyoaks, from the Triple Captain podcast to look over the men in the cheap seats! Yes, it's the 3rd/4th/5th defenders/midfielders/forwards under the spotlight, as well as how the variety of cheap enablers around is impacting things like formations and transfer decisions!

As usual, we also include our usual features in the Market Forces, 30+, Nick/Tom picks, #dadwatch a league update and also, of course, listener questions!
