#FlyBuy - GW21 (Includes GW18-20 Review)

Welcome back to FlyBuy...I took a break over the festive period, with my picks appearing only on Twitter and not via the Blog. Before I get to this week's pick (for GW21) let's take a look at how those selections performed.

Gameweek 18 took place on Boxing Day, and I went for a player who is a source of eternal FPL frustration. I should have learned my lesson long ago tipping Romelu Lukaku, but I thought he may well have given his owners a Christmas present. I was wrong. Everton are in a slump so bad that if they are not careful, they could well find themselves sucked into the relegation scrap. Arguably, with their current position of just 4 points from the Bottom 3, they are already in. They are not being helped by the likes of Lukaku misfiring. In GW18 he picked 2 appearance points in the 1-0 home loss to Stoke. GW19 and GW20 were no better, with limited game time meaning he picked up 1 solitary point in each fixture.

In Gameweek 19, I went for Leroy Fer of QPR. Although he didn't do the business in the 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace, he justified his selection next time out with a 10 point haul in the 1-1 draw with Swansea, scoring and picking up maximum bonus points.

Gameweek 20 maybe came a week too soon for my next pick. Arsenal's Theo Walcott did return to action, for just his 3rd substitute appearance in an injury ravaged season. A half hour cameo wasn't enough for him to provide any more than just a single point, but he has since come unscathed through an FA Cup clash, so perhaps GW21 is the time for him to provide the returns we all know he is capable of.

So, mixed fortunes for the last 3 FlyBuy picks, but I am confident they can go on to rack up points during the rest of their 5 week "active phase".

Onto GW21 then, and many of you have already activated the January Wildcard (myself included). I guess you might like a sneaky differential in your team to try and avoid the inevitable return of the template team? I'm not going to stick my neck out here, because there really is only one obvious choice.

Having made his return in the FA Cup tie away at Yeovil at the weekend, it is time for Angel Di Maria to make his return to a Manchester United team that currently find themselves 3rd in the table and with some very favourable fixtures. Southampton (H), QPR (A), Leicester (H), West Ham (A) and Burnley (H) are the next five games for United, and the Argentinian maestro should provide some very healthy points.

Get on him now, before the inevitable price rises - he peaked at £10.2m earlier in the season, but is now available for the knock-down price of £9.4m. Astonishingly, this is £0.1m LESS than his season starting price! For a midfielder that has scored 3 and assisted 6 in the 12 games in which he has featured to date.
