After another successful week on the maverick front with Charlie Austin bringing home the bacon against champions Manchester City and causing somewhat of a bandwagon. A two week sabbatical has since followed and a chance to recharge the batteries and go again leads us to the Potteries and a striker who originated from the other side of Manchester. It’s Stokes Mame Biram Diouf.
Owned by 0.6% of the FPL population, Diouf has somewhat gone under the radar as early shouts Krkic (who was nearly chosen) and Crouch seemed to live further up the pecking order for managers. The last few weeks have shown that Diouf is starting to reproduce some of the form that made him a success in the Bundesliga although he has endured a steady decline in ownership and that has seen his value fall from 6.5m to 6.2m.
Stoke though are a resilient bunch and will once again turn the Britannia into a fortress for the arrival of Burnley, Unbeaten in 3 at home and Burnley not won away all season all points to Mark Hughes’ men getting another 3 points and continuing their march up the table with Biram Diouf the focal point with a goal and assist in the last 2 games and with a resurgent Krkic supplying the ammunition.
Diouf is not one for the longer term though as trips to Anfield, Old Trafford and a home visit of Arsenal are next up for the Potters followed by a trip to Palace then the visit of Chelsea complete a nightmare few fixtures. They surely will be going all out for a win this week and a good performance against strugglers Burnley. The likes of Sakho are looking risky this week and Diouf could be the winning ticket in this week's raffle.
