#FlyBuy - GW24

No Blog article last week for GW24, but regular Twitter followers will remember I tweeted a few "teaser" pics for my FlyBuy pick. It was, of course, Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge. A place on the bench was all he could manage and unfortunately despite getting 35 minutes as a sub in the Merseyside derby, he could only manage one measly appearance point. Still, he has another 4 active gameweeks as a FlyBuy pick so I think he'll come good. He will want to remind the young pretender Harry Kane that he is STILL England's main man. What better chance than in the GW25 fixture where Liverpool host Spurs!

With such a tight turnaround between gameweek 24 and 25 there is hardly time to pause for breath. One player did catch my eye at the weekend though and I thought to myself that he may very well fit the bill for a FlyBuy selection.

With Aston Villa heading towards 11 hours without a Premier League goal, one man decided to take matters into his own hands and swung a ball in for Jores Okore to meet with just over half a minute left until that fateful time was reached. Make no bones about it, Villa are in deep trouble. Pedigree and history count for nothing in a relegation battle. It is the here and now that matters; no amount of long gone players and rusty old trophies are going to get you out of trouble. It has to be the current breed and their abilities along with their stomach for a fight.

Since arriving in England From Elche CF during the recent January Transfer Window, attacking midfielder Carles Gil has impressed me with his flair and determination. He is just the kind of player Villa need, but he cannot do it alone. He needs his teammates to dig in alongside him.

Villa are going to labour through all of their remaining fixtures, but their next five read: HUL (A) / STO (H) / NEW (A) / WBA (H) / SUN (A)

If a Gil inspired Villa can aim for 10 points from those games, they should be ok.
