#FlyBuy - GW36

Sorry gang, last weeks pick (Danny Welbeck) failed to even make the bench having picked up a knee injury in between the time I wrote the article and Monday evening. A convincing win for Arsenal, but as I suspected, nothing for Olivier Giroud. However, if "Dat Guy" had played, I reckon he would have outscored Sanchez. Probably. Anyway, let's move on. This week's pick is going to come at you totally unexpected, similar to the crushing defeat for the Labour Party overnight. Ok, let's not mix politics with football (as I found to my cost on my Twitter account today!) However, bear with me...you're going to want to read on and discover who this maverick pick is...

It's fair to say that this week's pick has not had a brilliant season. He plays for a mid table side, but nonetheless, I expected better from him this season. Last season he finished with four goals and ten assists. That's ten assists. If he had equaled that already this season he would be sitting joint third in the assist chart along with Bolasie, Sterling and Sigurdsson. Only Di Maria and Fabregas would be ahead of him, and he would be looking down on the likes of Hazard and Cazorla. Unfortunately that was last season. This term he has managed only four assists and one goal.

But that doesn't tell the whole story. This season has been a bit stop start for him. Consistency has been an issue, both in terms of starts and form. But he has started the last four games in a row and completed 90 minutes in each of them. During that time he has scored that solitary goal (in the 1-1 draw at West Ham). I'm referring to Stoke City midfielder Marko Arnautovic. This week he faces Spurs at home, before traveling to Burnley and finally hosting Liverpool (and Steven Gerrard) in the last game of the season. In those three games I predict two goals and one assist. You read it here first.

in other news, I changed my Twitter handle recently; @meet_the_gadfly has become the shorter and hopefully more relevant @FPL_Fly. Please give me a follow if you're not doing so already...
