#FlyBuy - GW29

Regular readers and eagle eyed observers will have noted that there was no FlyBuy blog post for DGW28, and for that I can only apologise. From time to time real life does impinge on fantasy commitments. Twitter followers may recall that I did select a FlyBuy pick, and to be honest he did ok. With QPR and Spurs both playing twice last week, it would have been perhaps foolhardy to select from outside of those two teams. The popular transfer targets were considered, and discarded. This was only due to one particular player quietly going about his business and racking up a handful of points here and there. Read on to discover whether he was a hit or a miss - and to find out who this week's FlyBuy pick is...

Former Wycombe Wanderers and Blackpool player Matthew Phillips signed for QPR back in August 2013, but it is perhaps fair to say he hasn't made much of an impact since his arrival. However, since his recall to the starting line-up in gameweek 24 he had picked up three assists in the games against Sunderland and Hull. upon analysing his stats, I came to the conclusion that if Charlie Austin was going to score in the two games against Arsenal and Spurs, then it would likely be from crosses provided by Phillips.

This prediction bore fruit in the first of the two games for QPR against Arsenal when exactly that scenario occurred. Ok, so it was only a consolation as QPR lost 2-1 to the Gunners, but Austin's goal did indeed come courtesy of Matt Phillips. At just £4.6m, and with some decent fixtures coming up, he can still be picked up if you are interested.

Onto this week's pick now, and with us now firmly in the business end of the season, I've gone searching for a differential. Someone producing glimmers of good form, but not translating it into points at the moment, but someone with such a low ownership percentage that if you hit it right could leapfrog you up your mini-leagues.

My selection this week is a player I think will remain in the Premier League after his team inevitably get relegated this season. It's a gamble, but I think he could pull something off in the 5 weeks one of my FlyBuy picks is active for. His fixtures are as follows: HUL / tot / WHU / wba / SWA.

All winnable on paper, but these are the fixtures for struggling Leicester City so maybe not as simple as it looks. However, the player I'm picking oozes class. It is Riyad Mahrez who gets tipped this week. With just two goals and four assists all season, this could backfire hugely - or turn out to be one of the most inspired picks I've ever made in this feature!
