@FPLMad continues his
series of 'Zero Hero' picks which focus on super low-owned players. They could
be uber-differentials (at 0.9% or less), thus require more scrutiny and
evaluation over a three Gameweek window. Over the years, he has provided an
assortment of successful differentials on
a weekly basis through his own set of parameters and is relishing this new
challenge. Here's his Zero Hero pick for Gameweek 10:
Before getting into this week’s pick, let’s take a look at how
GW7’s Zero Hero did over the three Gameweek window. With games against
Newcastle, Liverpool and Burnley, Harvey Barnes has proven to be an excellent
pick with 3 assists registered for a total of 16 points. With more decent
fixtures to come and a good form, he’s definitely still a great differential to
have from a flying Leicester City side.
Focusing on this gameweek, everyone is hoping
it’s going to be different and the big hitters will be back for business. The
last three GWs have been frustrating for many, me included, with the majority
of big hitters and popular captain picks blanking again and again. If anything,
these last few weeks have probably taught us the importance of a differential
where the likes of Harvey Barnes last week would have probably guaranteed you a
green arrow.
This week’s Zero Hero is mostly known
recently for his snarky Twitter. However, he’s a quite good footballer as well.
He’s Manchester City’s left back, Benjamin Mendy. The French international has
been hit with an injury after the other since his arrival at the Etihad.
However, when he plays regularly he’s an absolute must have in your FPL team. This
year, he’s been slowly eased back in to the team as Pep has been very careful
with his minutes in order to prevent recurring injuries. Last week, he
completed his first 90 minutes this season in the league. Also, he’s been taken
off to rest at the 71st minute in the midweek UCL class against
Atlanta which probably suggest a start this week and possibly more in the next
weeks as Zinchenko’s a doubt now as well as Mendy being, arguably, the better
option at LB for the Citizens.
Before facing Liverpool in GW 12,
Manchester City has time to tighten the gap in the next two weeks; they face
both Aston Villa and Southampton at home where Mendy surely can be a good tool
for them. He is a great crosser of the ball and can be a good source of points
on both ends of the pitch, especially with Manchester City’s clean sheet
potential. At 0.6% ownership and a relatively cheap price for a premium
defender of 5.9 million, he’s this week’s Zero Hero.
