@FPLMad continues his series of 'Zero Hero' picks which focus on super low-owned players. They could be uber-differentials (at 0.9% or less), thus require more scrutiny and evaluation over a three Gameweek window. Over the years, he has provided an assortment of successful differentials on a weekly basis through his own set of parameters and is relishing this new challenge. Here's his Zero Hero pick for Gameweek 9:
It has been two great consecutive weeks with Harvey Barnes and Neal Maupay getting FPL returns in the last two gameweeks, respectively. Meanwhile, the three weeks’ timeframe is up for Miguel Almiron who proved to be a terrible debut for the Zero Hero series with 3 blanks in a row. Hopefully, the following two have set the bar high enough for these weekly picks. Focusing on this gameweek, it’s another one that’s after the long dreaded international break which takes forever to pass. However, the following gameweek to an IB is usually unpredictable in terms of the form of the players as well as the teams; some players will turn it around while a few will keep up their great form they had before the break. However, this can’t be the case for this week’s pick. That’s because this week’s pick has still to play a single minute in the Premier League this season. This week’s Zero Hero is Kieran Tierney. The Scottish left back arrived this summer in a sensational move from Celtic. So far this season, he’s played two matches in all competitions for Arsenal and therefore the sample size is really small to judge him. This pick is more of a gut pick of a player who’s heavily hyped and rightly so; last year, he’s managed 5 assists in 20 appearances in the Scottish Premiership as well as a goal in 6 appearances in the Europa League. Also, this season, while he’s only managed two appearances, he’s looked impressive both in defense and attack and has already 1 assist to his name as an Arsenal player. Over the next three weeks, Arsenal play Sheffield United away, Crystal Palace and Wolves at home where they’d hope to keep at least two clean sheets with strengthening the defence being one of Emery’s primary targets. With the likes of Aubameyang, Pepe and the soon-to-return Lacazette at the end of his crosses, Tierney is all but set to make a great impact in that Arsenal team.
